The Gh'oul Times
I've always been known to put a lot of thought into my Halloween gear, and routinely it is of no surprise that I am stuck at a happening party in a huge suit. For example, those college friends of mine may recall when I decided the best possible costume would be a "shuttle cock," or better known as a badminton birdie. As I cut arm and head holes out of the circular white laundry basket, fit the red swimming cap atop my head, I was sure that I would be the hit of the party. Oops, not only was it a very embarassing spectacle, but I could barely walk around. We'll just have to save that picture for your mind's eye. The following year's homemade chunky baseball card fared a similar fate.
This year was no different. Why change a good thing? As bulky as I may have been, I was crowned with the "Best Costume Award" at the college's halloween party. (I'm not telling you how many people dressed up.)
So, what was I?? Anybody got it?? Gino and I were JELLY FISH!! I was "bling bling jelly" and Gino was "believable jelly". (scroll up again to get the full effect)
Saturday night I hosted a Halloween party for my students. Pretty much, all the kids came, which, in a society where a Halloween party is forced upon the guests, is a good thing.
We mummified people. Gino came out on top.
Of course, a party wouldn't be a party without bobbing for apples. Why, may you ask, is Reo-kun holding an orange? Well, lets just say apples are a tad pricey in Japan.
We rallied and cheered each other on, as those lucky few who actually did get apples didn't have to bite into an orange. That's no fun.
By the end of the night everyone was either wet or blue.
But one thing goes without saying this Halloween... We all had a haunting, fang-tastic, bootiful good time!

Some advice if you are considering the jelly fish for the future: 1. It's only good for one strong go-around. Two at best. By the third party, I was a moon. 2. Some raising and lowering of the arms while walking makes one look more like they are slimely walking around. 3. "Bling Bling Jelly" takes about 4 hours. "Believable Jelly" only takes two.
really diggin' the blog, danielle, i love how you paint such a vivid picture of your life and the people and places in it! keep it up, beautiful!
